UPDATE: Azeri SOCAR to send 1st oil tanker to Belarus on Thu–Fri

(Adds details in last paragraph)

BAKU/MINSK, Mar 2 (PRIME) -- Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR plans to ship the first tanker with oil to Belarus from Turkey’s port of Ceyhan on Thursday–Friday, spokesman Ibragim Akhmedov told PRIME on Monday.

“These two tankers with Azeri oil have a capacity of 85 tonnes. The first one will chronologically leave Ceyhan on March 5–6, the second one from Supsa on about March 20,” Akhmedov said.

Spokesman for Belarusian petrochemical company Belneftekhim Alexander Tishchenko said in February that SOCAR would ship two tankers with oil to Belarus in March as Russia and Belarus had not agreed on the terms of oil imports.

Tishchenko said on Monday that the first tanker with Russian oil bought from traders without premium is to arrive to the Lithuanian port of Klaipeda until March 10. According to the official, about 1 million tonnes of oil will be shipped to Belarusian oil refineries in March, or about 50% of the required amount.
